Cleveland Pools in Hampton Row, Bath, Somerset, England is a semi-circular lido built, by John Pinch the elder, in 1815. It is believed to be the oldest public outdoor swimming pool in England.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Heritage Open Days )〕 The pool was open to the River Avon. The Georgian site included 12 dressing rooms. The site was closed in the 1970s and was a for a short time used as a trout farm. In 2004 Bath and North East Somerset council put the site up for sale or long lease,〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Cleveland Pools, Hampton Row, Bath ) 〕 and it was added to the English Heritage Buildings at Risk Register. There has subsequently been a campaign, supported by The Prince's Regeneration Trust and the Trevor Osborne Property Group,〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Cleveland Pols, Bath )〕 to renovate it. The proposed plans would restore the main pool and children's pool, and see the addition of a cafe, exhibition room and children's climbing wall.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Introduction )〕 In 2013 an appeal to raise £3 million was launched to restore the pools. In August 2014 the Heritage Lottery Fund awarded £4.5 million to cover 85% of the costs. ==References==
